Kids Divisions
Kids gi and nogi each have 3 divisions. Belt systems vary by school — use years of experience and previous competition results as the primary guide. The belt list below is a rough guideline only.
Beginner
Typically less than 1 year of grappling experience and/or first-time competitors.
Intermediate
Approximately 1 to 2.5 years of grappling experience, or has previously won a beginner competition.
Advanced
2.5+ years of grappling experience, or has previously won an intermediate competition.
Women's Divisions
Women's gi and nogi each have 3 divisions.
Beginner
White Belt
Intermediate
Blue Belt
Advanced
Purple / Brown / Black Belt
Men's Divisions
Men's gi and nogi each have 3 divisions. If there are enough gi competitors, purple belts may be split into their own division.
